A beautiful antique 19th Century anchovy pot or 'vasetto per conserve' originally from Puglia, Southern Italy dating back to around 1880.
These pots were used in the 19th and early 20th centuries to preserve small fish (sardines, anchovies) in Italy. With its two handles and magnificent colouring, It's perfect for decoration or for holding a bouquet.
Made with a twice fired buttermilk/ivory coloured pewter glaze.
We have a variation of different anchovy pots currently in stock. Each is perfectly imperfect, beautiful piece with charm! The pots have minor dents and chips but no major cracks.
Both sides of the pot can be shown in the photographs.
