A fabulous large hand-carved wooden decorative horse sculpture standing on its hind legs. From the early 20th-century, it was believed to have been used for precessional purposes in South-East Asia (Thailand, Cambodia). Standing at 2m tall, it is an incredible decorative piece that's extremely rare, and it will certainly catch lots of attention.
Finished in polychrome paint, it's thought he may have spent some time outside which is why the paint is so distressed.
Named Derek (by us), he fully comes apart and is easy to reassemble. There are some minor repairs visible to the tail and front left hoof (please refer to photographers) which could be cleaned up.
Measurements:
2m (height) x 176cm (width from tip of tail to front hoof)
Base: 80cm (length) x 39cm (depth)
