A beautiful vintage French confit pot with textured matt glaze featuring a double handle. It's in very good condition with no major cracks or chips, and features the number '16' or '76' on one handle.
Confit is the French word that means “to preserve”– the mustard and green pots were used for storing cooked meats and then buried in the ground or stored in stone-lined larders. This storage process preserved the cooked meat without refrigeration and could then be enjoyed throughout the winter months. Now, these pots are beautiful decorative items and make a great vase.
